Hillsboro Community Medical Center in Hillsboro received two awards from the Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators.


Area hospitals and health systems were recently recognized for excellence in public relations and marketing efforts by the Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators through its Emerald Award competition. Hillsboro Community Medical Center in Hillsboro received two awards.

Emerald Awards are given annually to hospitals and health systems that excel in internal communications, external communications, special events, advertising and other categories. Judges from the Iowa Hospital Association evaluated this year’s 53 entries for planning and research, implementation, cost effectiveness and results.

Hillsboro CMC received an Emerald Award in the Writing category for “Breaking the Silence About Dementia” by Marsha Setzkorn-Meyer, as well as a Certificate of Merit in the Special Events category for “Dementia Diagnosis: What Next?” by Setzkorn-Meyer.

The Emerald Awards were presented at the Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators luncheon and annual meeting on Nov. 14, during the Kansas Hospital Association’s Annual Convention in Overland Park.
