The Bethel College women’s basketball team used a 53-point second half to bury the Peru State Bobcats 86-68 Tuesday in non-conference play in Peru.

The game was tied 33-33 at intermission.

The game had 55 fouls, 32 against Peru State. Despite the fouls, no player fouled out.

Peru State led by eight, 22-14, with 7:41 left in the first half, but the Threshers ended the half with a 19-11 run.

Down 46-44 with 11:55 left in regulation, Angela Wood hit a trey to spark a 10-0 Thresher run. Bethel continued to pull away from that point.

Hannah Blackburn led the Threshers with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Racheal Bachman added 18 points. Wood scored 17 points.

Peru State, 0-8, was led by Courtney Janacek with 16 points. P.J. Miller scored 13 points. Monique McDuffie scored 12 points with 11 rebounds. Britnie Garcia scored 10 points.

Bethel is 3-0, all against teams from the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference, and opens conference play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference champion Sterling.

Sterling is 4-2 and on a four-game winning streak. The Warriors fell to Baker and William Jewell at the start of the season. Sterling is ranked 11th in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II pre-season poll.
