Kevin Scott Jantz, 46, died Saturday (Nov. 22, 2008) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita following a hunting accident.

He was born Dec. 7, 1961, in Newton to Donald R. and Marcella (Quiring) Jantz.

Kevin was a 1980 graduate of Berean Academy in Elbing and a 1983 graduate of Friends University in Wichita.

He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Newton and attended Grace Community Church in Newton.

Kevin worked as a systems analyst for Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita.

He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. Kevin was known for his cooking skills, and he was a man of great generosity and faith who greatly looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends.

Survivors include his mother, Marcella (Quiring) Jantz of Newton; stepfather, Norman Rogers of Newton; brothers, Steve Jantz of Newton and Berry Craig of Moundridge; sisters, Sharon Skidmore of Newton, Kristen Burkhart of Newton and Beth Smith of Whitewater; seven nieces; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald R. Jantz; his grandparents; and an aunt.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

A private family service will be conducted, with Pastor Steve Friesen of Grace Community Church and the Rev. Carl Craig, retired of Independence, officiating.

Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the children and teen program at First Church of the Nazarene in care of the funeral home.
