Edward J. Beins, 81, retired U.S. Postal Service architect, died Monday (Nov. 24, 2008) at Harry Hynes Memorials Hospice in Wichita.

Visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.


Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bentley United Methodist Church in Bentley, with the Rev. Alan Lindall officiating.


Edward J. Beins, 81, retired U.S. Postal Service architect, died Monday (Nov. 24, 2008) at Harry Hynes Memorials Hospice in Wichita.

He was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Plattsmouth, Neb., to Herbert E. and Mary S. (Wilson) Beins. Both are deceased.

A Wichita resident since April, formerly of Grand Junction, Colo., he was a graduate of The University of Kansas and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

On Dec. 23, 1949, he married Patricia Ann Dosien in Bentley. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1992.

On March 30, 1996, he married Gloria Ann Dunnington at Lake City, Colo. She survives.

Other survivors include sons, John (Kathy) Beins of Baldwin City and Max (Marcy) Beins of Wichita; brother, Rick (Janice) Beins of Bentley; sisters, Betty Rice of Wichita and Mary Lou Williams of Pittsburg; six grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by sisters, Beulah Cutting and Clara Jane Adams.
