The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Freemount Lutheran Church in rural Lindsborg, with Dr. Clay Brown officiating. The family prefers casual dress.


Gregory R. “Greg” Brown, 62, of Kanopolis, died Monday (Oct. 27, 2008) in rural Ellsworth.

He was born Jan. 7, 1946, in Dallas, the son of Paul and Virginia Smiley Brown.

Greg was a cowboy and lived the past year near Kanopolis. He formerly was of the Peabody, Thayer and Lindsborg areas.

Greg loved his family, loved his friends and loved his horses. On Jan. 7, 1966, he married Mary Hause in Dallas. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Samuel Paul Brown and wife, Helga, of Lima, Peru; daughter, Elizabeth Jane Brown of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, “Papa’s Girl” Ariella Spicher of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Dr. Clay Brown of Mooresville, N.C., Roger Brown of San Francisco, and Matthew Brown of Lewisville, Texas; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth.
