On Sept. 22, Book ReViews presented checks for $2,000 to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and $2,000 to Agape Resource Center.

CASA volunteers serve as advocates for abused and neglected children who have matters before the court. The need continues to grow, said Melanie Watkins, CASA Director. Through July 2008, more children were helped than all of 2007.

Agape Resource Center provides food and clothing to needy families. This contribution will enable Agape Resource Center, 116 E. Sixth St., to buy food which is badly needed at this time, said Ron Robinson, the director.

Book ReViews, a not-for-profit store, is located at 707 N. Main St. Donations of used books continue strong and sales are good according to Vern Preheim, manager. The store is operated by one part-time staff person and about 30 volunteers. Additional volunteers are needed.
