The Berean Academy boys’ soccer team is off to the finals of the Class 4-3-2-1A South-Central III Regional after a 4-0 win over Wichita Independent Tuesday afternoon in Elbing.


The Berean Academy boys’ soccer team is off to the finals of the Class 4-3-2-1A South-Central III Regional after a 4-0 win over Wichita Independent Tuesday afternoon in Elbing.

The Warriors host the finals at 4 p.m. Thursday against the winner of Hays Thomas More Prep-Marian and Andover.

Broxton Busenitz scored two goals for the Warriors. Zac Wiebe and Luke Friesen each added a goal. Lonnie Penner, Blaine Busenitz, Cameron Rust and Caleb Veer each had an assist.

The Warriors held a 14-5 advantage in total shots. Karlin Wiebe had two saves for Berean for the shutout win.

Kobi Mashnouck had four saves in goal for Wichita Independent, which ends the season 6-11-1.

Berean enters the regional finals 11-5-1.
