When it was suggested Mary Bradshaw be nominated for Kansas Teacher of the Year, she considered it an honor.“There are a lot of talented teachers, and they all work hard,” Bradshaw said. “Why me? I can name a number of other teachers in Newton that are simply amazing.”Bradshaw, who is the USD 373 English Language Learners coordinator in addition to an ELL teacher at Chisholm Middle School, has done more than be nominated. She was named teacher of the year for Region IV, making her one of four finalists at the state level. The state teacher of the year award winner will be announced at a banquet in November.
