The Harvey County Health Department will offer flu vaccinations beginning on Oct. 6. at its office at 316 Oak St. in Newton. Vaccinations will be offered on a walk-in basis. Pneumonia vaccinations also are available.

The department also is offering FluMist. It is available to those age 2 through 49 who have no respiratory or chronic illness.

Vaccinations are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and some private insurers.

For those without insurance coverage, the cost is $25 for a flu vaccination, $30 for FluMist and $40 for pneumonia vaccination. A sliding fee schedule is available for those who qualify.
