The Newton middle school cross country team competed Monday at the Derby Invitational.


The Newton middle school cross country team competed Monday at the Derby Invitational.

For the seventh-grade girls, London Orr-Thompson finished 11th in 7:02.88 (one mile).

The seventh-grade boys finished fifth out of seven teams. Micah Nachtigal finished in ninth in 6:11.18, followed by Matthew Nachtigal in 17th in 6:20.42, Julian Marshall in 26th in 6:41.20 and Jared Rangel in 29th in 6:45.89.

The eighth-grade girls placed second out of four teams. Ardy Woodward finished third in 14:49.72 (two miles), followed by Erin Bergen in seventh in 15:12.01 and Kelsi Langley in 12th in 16:31.03.

The eighth-grade boys placed second out of six teams. Peter Nelson was second in 12:04.16, followed by Mark Krieder in fifth in 12:55.20, Kegan Attebery in 13th in 13:43.36, Lance Woodward in 16th in 13;52.78, Spencer Bering in 18th in 14:02.12, David Jantz in 20th in 14:02.86, Nat Dick in 30th in 15:00.17, Brandon Aghlstedt in 31st in 15:00.17 and Cody Mick in 33rd in 15:35.53.
