Serving as the kick-off event for the annual Bethel College Fall Festival is Taste of Newton, which is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

This year’s event will feature more than 60 food vendors and two stages of live entertainment.

A sampling of the food to be served at this year’s Taste of Newton includes: homemade chicken and noodles, barbecue, turkey legs, Mexican food, baked goods, apple dumplings, New Year’s cookies, jambalaya, onion blossoms, roasted corn, verenike, nachos and more.

The entertainment schedule includes musical performances at Broadway and Main streets by: Bethel College Jazz, Newton Community Children’s Choir, Newton high School Railaires, Sound of the Heartland Chorus (Sweet Adeline’s) and the Newton High School Jazz Ensemble I.

At Sixth and Main streets, the public can enjoy performances by Ultimate Martial Arts, Gymnastics Fun and Fitness Center, Newton Performing Arts Center, NHS Railiners and the Azteca Dancers.

Sponsors of the event include the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, Bethel College and the city of Newton.
