James Wesley (Jack) Cole, 73, of Whitewater, passed away on Thursday (Aug. 28, 2008).


James Wesley (Jack) Cole, 73, of Whitewater, passed away on Thursday (Aug. 28, 2008).

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Towanda Cemetery.

Jack was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Okmulgee County, Okla., to Marion E. and Bera Ann (Fade) Cole. He attended El Dorado High School and after serving in the U.S. Navy, worked for the FAA as an air traffic controller in Dallas.

He is survived by his former wife, Janetta, and their daughter, Kimberly Cheryl Andersen, her husband William and granddaughters Alyssa and Natalie of Wake Forest, N.C.; a son, Kraig Wesley Cole, mother, Bera Cole, sister, Nancy Cole Bracken, and her husband Gary L. Bracken, all of Oklahoma; his longtime companion, Kathryn Kriftewirth Frerking of Whitewater; and seven nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Donald E. Cole.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be given to Hospice Care of Kansas, the National Audubon Society, Whitewater Fire Department or the Humane Society of Harvey County.
