Prairie Harvest Market and Deli is sponsoring its second-annual Chili Cook Off to benefit Harvey County United Way.

Prairie Harvest Market and Deli is sponsoring its second-annual Chili Cook Off to benefit Harvey County United Way. This year, there will be an open class in addition to the agency class of Harvey County United Way contributors.

The registration deadline is Wednesday.

There will be an informational meeting at noon Wednesday in the Prairie Room, 601 N. Main St., for all participants.

There will be a limited amount of space, and booths will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The advertising inclusion deadline is Sept. 10.

The open class and the agency class will be judged separately on chili but jointly on booth creativity.

In 2007, 14 agencies were represented at the cook-off, with 260 people donating $1,300 for chili test kits and $1,034 in “voting dollars.” Petitjean, Whitfield and Associates are co-sponsoring the event with Prairie Harvest.
