The city of Newton sanitation division is almost ready to begin automated trash collection citywide.

For the past several weeks, sanitation crews have been training on the new automated trucks in four pilot areas around the city. Street/Sanitation Superintendent Randy Jackson said the pilot project has been beneficial in preparing the service for citywide implementation.
