Erna J. Ratzlaff, 83, passed away Monday (Aug. 25, 2008) at Salina Regional Medical Center in Salina.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.


Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Goessel Mennonite Church Cemetery, with Pastor June Thomsen of Salina Mennonite Church officiating.


Erna J. Ratzlaff, 83, passed away Monday (Aug. 25, 2008) at Salina Regional Medical Center in Salina.

She was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Bessie, Okla., to Jacob and Amanda (Neufeld) Dyck. They preceded her in death.

She lived in the Newton area for many years prior to her move to Salina to be closer to her daughter and family.

Survivors include daughter, Marlene and Wayne Waltner of New Cambria; grandson, Kevin Schrag of Cheney; granddaughter, Julie and Mark Swanson of Abilene; grandson, Darren Schrag of Lamont, Okla.; step-grandson, Kris Waltner of Hutchinson; step-granddaughter, Kimberly and Mark Kasche of North Platte, Neb.; great-grandson, Chase Allen Swanson; and eight step-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ashlyn, Miranda, Camden, Gracelyn, Harley, Lexus and Riley.

She also was preceded in death by brother, Henry and Pearl Dyck; sister, Marie and Clyde Jackson; brother, Ben and Lydia Dyck; sister, Agnes and Leland Jants; and brother, Alvin and Leuella Dyck.
