The Wichita Wingnuts announced manager Kash Beauchamp will not return for 2009 season.

Beauchamp led Wichita to 45-50 in his first season. Wichita finished second in the American Association North Division in the first half of the season.

“I want to thank Kash for everything he did to help the Wingnuts inaugural season be such a success,” general manager Josh Robertson said. “The organization has made tremendous strides to ensure that 2009 will be a great one, but after meeting with Kash today we decided that a change needed to be made.”

“My experience in Wichita was nothing but a pleasurable one for both me and my wife, and I look forward to remaining a part of the community,” Beauchamp said. “Although I was disappointed with the results on the field, it was a great learning experience, and one I will always be grateful for.”

Wichita ended the season with an attendance of 146,408, an average of 3,405 a game. Wichita was fifth in the American Association in attendance out of 10 teams. Wichita had 10 crowds of 4,500 or better with a high of 8,225 June 21.

The Wingnuts’ per-game attendance average was nearly double the 2007 Wichita Wranglers’.

The 2009 Wingnuts schedule is expected to be announced in November and will begin in May.
