Sylvan “Van” Wallace, 76, of Bentonville, passed away Saturday (June 28, 2008) in Bentonville.


Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers, Ark., with Pastor Don Morrow officiating.


Sylvan “Van” Wallace, 76, of Bentonville, passed away Saturday (June 28, 2008) in Bentonville.

Mr. Wallace was born June 6, 1932, in Alva, Okla., the son of Herman and Thelma Waltz Wallace.

Van attended school in Wichita and graduated from Valley Center High School in Valley Center. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He moved to Bentonville in 1982, where he was a personnel manager for Wal-Mart from 1982 to 1994. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bentonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Myrl Wallace; and two sisters, Mary Young and Nadine Prybil. He is survived by his wife, Florene (Rene) Fry Wallace of the home; sons, Jimmy Wallace and wife, Connie, of Newton, Mike Wallace and wife, Kathy, of Bentonville, and Brent Wallace and wife, Kelly, of Little Rock, Ark.; daughters, Dee Hollander and Robin Mitchell and husband, Aaron, all of Bentonville; brother, Chuck Wallace of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Billie Marie Bennett of Valley Center; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers, Ark., with Pastor Don Morrow officiating. Military honors by Bella Vista VFW Post 9063.

Interment will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 807 S.E. 14th, Bentonville, AR 72712.
