The Wichita Wingnuts moved into sole possession of second place in the American Association North Division first half standings with a 4-2 win over the Sioux City Explorers Friday night in Sioux City.


The Wichita Wingnuts moved into sole possession of second place in the American Association North Division first half standings with a 4-2 win over the Sioux City Explorers Friday night in Sioux City.

Wichita improves to 25-21 while Sioux City falls to 21-26. With one game to go in the first half of the season, Wichita is a game ahead of St. Paul. Sioux Falls already clinched the first half title, and the playoff berth that comes with it, at 29-17.

Richard Salazar got the win for Wichita, improving to 2-2 for the season. Nick Singleton, 3-4, took the loss.

Michael Thompson hit a triple and an RBI for Wichita. Stephen Pearson also drove in a run.

Alex Llanos and Chris Grossman each had a double and an RBI for Sioux City.

The series concludes at 7:05 p.m. today.
