The Newton Junior Knights American Legion Baseball team had a rough go of it Wednesday night against Manhattan Manco in Manhattan.

Newton lost the first game 15-3 in four innings on the 10-run rule and the second game 23-1 in four innings.

Newton lost the first game 15-3 in four innings on the 10-run rule and the second game 23-1 in four innings.

Newton was held hitless in the second game.

In the first game, Manhattan scored eight runs in the first innings and never looked back. Newton was held to five hits. Cody Opland had two RBIs for Newton.

Kevin Ronen took the loss. Brandon Palmer also pitched for the Junior Knights.

In the second game, Manhattan opened with a 12-run first inning. Newton had five errors, allowing 10 unearned runs.

Opland took the loss in the second game.

Newton falls to 5-13 and plays at 2 p.m. Sunday on the road against the Wichita Sox.
