The Wichita Wingnuts ended their final homestand of the first half of the American Association season with a win, stopping the Shreveport Sports 10-5 Wednesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

With two games to go on the road against the Sioux City Explorers, the Wingnuts improve to 24-21. Shreveport falls to 15-29.

Tied 5-5, Wichita scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break the game open and claim the win.

Stephen Pearson led Wichita, going four for five at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Kevin Hooper went three for three with three runs scored and an RBI. Chris Colton went two for four with two runs scored, two RBIs and a home run. Brenan Herrera went two for five with a run scored and two RBIs.

Deacon Burns and Ron Fenwick each went two for four hitting for Shreveport. Terrance McClain went two for five. Chad Gambill drove in two runs.

Doug Hurn, 3-2, threw two innings of relief for the win, allowing two runs on three hits with a strikeout. Starter Brad Davis went six innings, allowing three runs with three walks and six strikeouts. Byron Embry threw the top of the ninth.

Matt Pilgreen faced four batters, retiring just one, to get the loss, falling to 1-4.
