Nineteen high school juniors and seniors from throughout Kansas participated in the 2008 Kansas Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities June 17 through 21 at Washburn University.

Among them was Trevor McDonald of Sedgwick.

Participants focused on the development of leadership skills in addition to the exploration of career options and the enhancement of independence through advances in assistive technology. The forum also was designed to assist students in identifying existing barriers to personal and professional success and provided guidance on developing plans to deal effectively with such challenges.

The program included small group discussions with fellow students, large group presentations by community leaders, trip to the Capitol, barbecue, talent show and a dance.
