TOPEKA – Senate President Steve Morris, R-Hugoton, announced his recommendation of Sen. Carolyn McGinn, R-Sedgwick, to serve as a member of the Governor’s Kansas Energy and Environmental Policy Advisory Group.

The 25-member panel includes members of specific government agencies, members recommended by legislative leadership, representatives of business industry, agriculture, environmental groups, academia and members of the public.

Sen. McGinn responded to the recommendation saying, “I am grateful Senate President Morris’ expression of confidence. In 2008, we began the long overdue debate on how Kansans can best meet their future energy needs. We need to continue through the process to discover ways to incorporate renewable energy resources into our existing system, to ensure reliable, affordable energy over the long term. At the same time, we must remain committed to our responsibility to ourselves and to future generations to be good stewards of the land, water and environment.”
