Hustler Turf Equipment, produced by Excel Industries in Hesston, received international honors recently as the company was recognized for its outstanding global business practices. The company was presented the International Business Excellence Award by the executive board of the World Trade Council of Wichita on May 15.

Hustler Turf was nominated for the award by the president and CEO of the Kansas World Trade Center, Karyn Page, for its “strategic and diligent effort to increase its presence in the international market through partnerships, traditional exporting and diversification of sales to new industry sectors.”

“I am always impressed with Kansas businesses who display great entrepreneurial characteristics to achieve long term success. Hustler Turf has applied good business sense and ingenuity to its global supply chain management, lean manufacturing, and export activities,” Page said. “Besides it’s a beautiful company — amazing equipment on its manufacturing floor and truly nice people who value relationships.”

Hustler Turf has been exporting product since 1974 and has established successful business relationships in more than 28 countries throughout the world. In addition to export, Hustler Turf has been active in global sourcing of components, and currently source (either directly or through an intermediary) from China, India, Mexico, Canada, and Japan. In 2007, the company’s international business reached an entirely new level entering into a strategic partnership with IHI Shibaura Machinery Corporation from Japan.
