WICHITA Justin Young and Byron Embry combined on the mound to lead the Wichita Wingnuts to a 3-2 win over the Sioux City Explorers Friday night in American Association play in Wichita.

Young, 2-0, allowed five hits in 6 2-3 innings. Embry gave up a pair of runs in the ninth inning but posted his seventh save. The runs were the first allowed by Embry this season.

Young walked two and struck out four. Embry walked one and struck out two.

Stephem Pearson went two for three hitting for Wichita with an RBI. Brenan Herrera went two for four, both doubles, with an RBI. Felipe Del Rosario added an RBI.

Nick McCoola and Chris Grossman both went two for three hitting for the Explorers, 6-15. Chad Gabriel went two for four.

Dusty Bergman, 0-5, took the loss.

Wichita is 14-8, a half game behind North Division leader St. Paul in the first half standings.

The two teams meet again at 7:05 p.m. today.
