Brad Davis went nine innings, allowing one run on three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts, as the Wichita Wingnuts stopped the Sioux Falls Canaries 5-1 Thursday in American Association play in Wichita.

The Canaries had six errors. Catcher Felipe Del Rosarui scored two runs for Wichita, 13-8 this season and 8-2 at home.

Kevin Hooper, Blake Gailen and Del Rosario each went two for four hitting for Wichita. Mike Thompson had two RBIs.

Travis Kane, 1-1, went six innings in the loss, allowing no earned runs on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Kane was charged with four errors.

Beau Torbert hit a one-out home run in the top of the ninth to break the shutout.

Wichita begins a four-game homestand against the Sioux City Explorers at 7:05 p.m. today.
