Richard and Shirley (Holmes) Sadowski celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family May 25 at Water’s Edge in Hesston.


Richard and Shirley (Holmes) Sadowski celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family May 25 at Water’s Edge in Hesston.

They were married on May 23, 1948, at the First Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Forrest Rohl officiating.

Richard worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 39 1/2 years as a cablesplicer assistant; installer and network. He was transferred to Independence as network supervisor, where he retired. He and Shirley moved back to Newton for retirement. Shirley had worked as a secretary at Trinity Heights Methodist Church, Regier Loan and Abstract and for the city of Newton.

They have two sons, Larry (wife Anita) and Mike (wife Julie), both of Newton. They have five grandchildren: Laura of China; Paul (wife Lindsay) of Newton; Tjaden of Newton; Holly of Newton; and Katie of Oregon. They have one great-grandchild.
