Deloris Stika of Marion, Robert and Marge Heidel, son Jeff Heidel of Newton, and Bob and Phyllis Slater of Newton enjoy a visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center with The Newton Kansan. They had a week’s stay in Waikiki, Hawaii. They enjoyed Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor and The North Shore of Oahu, where “Blue Hawaii” was filmed with Elvis Presley. They also went to the Hawaii Volcano National Park on the big island of Hawaii, but the gases were high, so they didn’t get to see the volcano. “Many wonderful sites were enjoyed,” a news release stated.
