The first of three reminiscing events celebrating Memorial Home’s 50th anniversary will be Thursday at the facility, which is near Moundridge. State and city dignitaries will attend.

What started with a gift of land from Katie Krehbiel and people envisioning how a home could be built in a rural community to accommodate the needs of the elderly has grown into a 60-bed nursing home, special care neighborhood, Assisted Living and Independent Living apartments, duplexes and homes and a Wellness Center.

The program, which is open to the public, will begin at 2 p.m. in the Wellness Center. There will be presentations and snacks.
