17-year-old girl who had been missing since Tuesday has been found safe in northeast Kansas after being dropped off at a bank. A suspect is in custody. Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says a bank employee recognized Tara Rene Simhiser around 11:25 Thursday morning and contacted police, who took the Lehigh girl into protective custody. Hiawatha Police Chief Evans Woehlecke says the girl seemed scared when officers arrived at the bank. The chief says the suspect, 21-year-old Rojelio Hernandez, was detained about 15 minutes later as he was cruising around town in a Honda Accord.

Investigators believe a missing Marion County teen is with a man who was seen in Riley County schools earlier this month posing as a potential transfer student, according to the Associated Press. The Marion County Sheriff's Department says the search continues for 17-year-old Tara Renee Simhiser, even though an Amber Alert issued at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday has been rescinded. Tara is 5-feet tall and 120 pounds with blonde hair and brown eyes. She is white and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt. Authorities say she may be with 21-year-old Rojelio Hernandez, a Hispanic male, 5-feet-8-inches tall and 155 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. A sheriff's spokesman says he appears to be the same man who went into several Riley County schools weeks ago. ________________________________
A Marion County teen has been reported abducted by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Tara Renee Simhiser was reported missing at about 5:29 p.m. today from her residence in Marion County. The 17-year-old is reported to be 5-foot tall, 120 pounds with blond hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. Her possible abductor is Rojelio Hernandez, a 21-year-old Hispanic male, 5-8, 155 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a light brown shirt, blue jeans and a blue ball cap. He is possibly driving a late 1990 Honda Accord, possibly with the license plate 050 BDD. They were possibly sighted in the Wichita area about 7:52 p.m. The KBI reports they may also be headed to Topeka. An Amber Alert has been issued.
