- Young people competed in goat tying and calf roping, in the youth rodeo at the fairgrounds Saturday morning. The Newton Saddle club hosted the junior rodeo, which was sanctioned by the Kansas Junior Rodeo Association. Children between the ages of one and 14 competed for prize money and points counting towards year end awards. Contestants competed in various roping events, goat tying, calf riding, sheep riding, chute dogging, barrel racing and pole bending.
